Research!

Make sure that your chosen mascot, name, elements and colors are not already taken somewhere in the Greek community.

 

• Search Google for RL orgs with the same name, and search both Facebook and Instagram for the name in SL.  Try searching the name

with and without space [example: Delta Theta Nu & deltathetanu]

 

• Check the registries and directories for existing registered orgs.  You can see mascots, elements, colors and names to make sure

you are unique

 

• Ask if you're not sure!  Contact a registry and speak with a mentor to double check that your choices are not taken

Registering your organization can not only provide you with  better access to the Greek community, but it also gives you visibility.  Registering your organization helps protect your org assets to avoid anyone else using the symbols you have chosen to represent yourself.  It is not mandatory, and all Greek registries have their own rules for membership, please see their respective pages for more information.
